The climate calculation infrastructure holding energy use
and climate impact in a life cycle perspective

The transport system uses energy and affects the climate partly through emissions from traffic and partly through emissions from construction, operation and maintenance of infrastructure. Climate calculation is a model that has been developed in order to efficiently and consistently calculate the energy use and climate load that the transport infrastructure gives rise to from a life cycle perspective.

The model can be used to make climate calculations for investment objects and basic contracts for maintenance roads, as well as as tools for working efficiently and systematically with climate and energy efficiency improvements in infrastructure management. Calculations can be made either on the basis of detailed type measures or project-specific quantity data for material and energy resources. Traffic energy use or emissions are not included.
